JOB TITLE: Corporate Senior Project Engineer
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
STATUS: Exempt
JOB PURPOSE: The Corporate Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for the execution of corporate led large capital projects, project engineering efforts in support of process improvement and process development activities. The Corporate Sr. Project Engineer works collaboratively with the plant engineering resources for the management of major expansion and modifications of manufacturing process equipment. This includes equipment specification, mechanical design, project definition, development of success criteria, management and execution of projects for production processing lines, quality improvements, testing equipment, and production / distribution facilities. This person will be required to supervise and manage internal and external resources including engineering, mechanical, electrical and general contractor companies, as necessary to complete project work. The Corporate Sr. Project Engineer is required to develop, write, maintain, and deploy company equipment engineering standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND INFLUENCE:
Projects
- Proactively and collaboratively works with plant engineering resources, develops and implements manufacturing related projects dealing with productivity gain projects, safety projects, and cost savings projects, growth and acquisition. Partners with R&D and Sales / Marketing personnel to develop designs and cost estimates to support new product initiatives.
- Develops detailed “scopes of work” for planning and bid purposes.
- Develops and executes contractor/supplier contracts.
- Coordinates and conducts contractor bid meetings.
- Develops and manages Capital Appropriation Requests.
- Communicates/Integrates the organization on the project from conceptualization through implementation.
- Utilizes the AutoCAD system to define and document project layouts.
- Supplements plant engineering as a resource when necessary.
- Responsible for projects assigned by the Director of Engineering.
- Resource to Finance for providing correct asset depreciation life, correct asset assignment and timely closing of all corporate capital projects. Also, provides appropriate documentation.
Process
- Assumes role as corporate resource on process flows and equipment integration into manufacturing processes to insure seamless production of CM products across manufacturing plants.
- Sources new technology and equipment to increase manufacturing productivity.
- Provides Training and or training materials to appropriate plant personnel on new technology and equipment.
- Works closely with plant personnel, identify and initiate project and operational ideas to enhance plant systems and operations.
- Accountable for the preparation of objective project assessment including financial justification and evaluations such as Returns on Investment (ROI) evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Technical Capability
- Possess advanced skills associated with corporate project management including project organization, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, bid process and contractor selection. Ability to write clear technical specifications for equipment purchases.
- Knowledge and experience with the following equipment processes: Dry blend food processing systems, food grad consumer packaging equipment, building construction and building support systems such as HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Strong math skills, ability to prepare a cost analysis and good root-cause analysis skills.
- Proficient in Word for Windows, Excel, & Project including development and maintenance of moderately complex spreadsheet: and ability to learn to operate specification/formulation software. AutoCAD experience.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS in Engineering, technical degree or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years progressive work experience in a technical field in manufacturing spent coordinating project activity with a demonstration of strong project engineering abilities.
- Experience with cross-functional development teams.
- Consumer Products manufacturing experience.
