The Director of Engineering is responsible for all Engineering including design and performance data management and management of a Mechanical Designer who supports those efforts.  The Director of Engineering’s work supports Sales and Manufacturing to enable the company to meet revenue, shipping, quality & profitability targets. This role reports directly to the company's CEO. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities are:
  • 20% of time will be spent on design engineering tasks
  • Create and manage technical information on products to ensure quality, consistency and efficient production.  This includes but not limited to: technical specifications for manufacturing, performance and quality checks, user manuals, customer facing performance data.
  • Work with Manufacturing to ensure efficient machining, fabrication and assembly of products
  • Ensure products are designed to perform to or above expectation of customer and market
  • Evaluate product failures and non-conforming products for root case
  • Improve and enhance designs as needed
  • Track and monitor status of design jobs to hit delivery date goals
  • Support Sales and Customer services in technical inquiries and troubleshooting
  • Manage and mentor Mechanical Designer(s) / Draftsperson(s)
Qualifications & Required Skills:
  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ year Design experience with 3D solid modeling software
  • Familiarity with CAD system, CNC operations, and CNC abrasive water jets a plus
  • Familiarity and/or experience with welding
  • Ability to upgrade existing drawings to current CAD system
  • Practical knowledge of product designs
  • Pleasant customer interface (when needed)
  • Availability to travel to customer sites for short durations (when needed)
  • Strong organization, scheduling, time and task management abilities
