Overall responsibility for a 750k tpy (approx.) surface limestone quarrying operation. Oversight of fixed plant and mobile fleet maintenance, production, safety and environmental, quality control, logistics, etc.. Plans, evaluates, implements and monitors mine plans to minimize costs and meet quality and regulatory needs for this non-union operation. Evaluates production rates to best utilize equipment and labor while managing costs. Interface with sales team and ownership regarding business development and sales efforts. Responsible for the overall safety of this non-union workforce. Serve as site representative for MSHA and other government agencies. MIDWEST US LOCATION.   • Develops and administers financial budgets and activities to fund operations and increase overall efficiencies
  • Ensure plant has preventive maintenance program to perform regular and routine maintenance
  • Responsible for the safety of all direct and indirect reports serving this non-union operation
  • Works with sales to address customer relations and customer service requirements
  • Manages process improvement goals and objectives to ensure that productivity and efficiency goals and objectives are met
  • Sets clear and consistent expectations for performance and leverages resources available to accomplish goals
  • Identifies talent correctly and shows ownership of all aspects of plant staffing and retention
  • Manages and directs employee relations activities to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction and productivity
  • Follows up on critical tasks and holds people accountable for adhering to process and protocol

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required 
  • 10+ years experience in the construction material industry preferred, with a track record of successful operations management 
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, planning, monitoring capital expenditures and a strong record of accomplishment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the construction materials industry with an emphasis on aggregate mining and processing
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance principles and practices 
  • Effectively interface with all levels of people and knowledge of modern motivational principles and practices
  • Strong with mentoring employees and building a positive team environment
  • Strong understanding of quality control systems and processes
  • Must be familiar and comfortable working with sales and marketing teams
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a MSHA regulatory environment preferred
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office products and related industry software
