INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER – DISTRIBUTION OPERATIONS
Our client, a major apparel company, designs, sources and markets multiple brands through virtually all retail channels and has an immediate opening for an Industrial Engineer in its Omnichannel distribution center.
This position, an addition to staff, provides support and trains distribution center associates, supervisors, operations management, on effective work processes, standard work, work methods and utilization of data and reporting to track key KPIs in order to meet/exceed distribution goals. He/she assists in the development and maintenance engineered work standards on ecommerce fulfillment and traditional distribution processes, is assigned process improvement projects by the Director of Distribution, provide the critical thinking, in depth data analysis and work place solutions within the distribution center and overall distribution network and will utilize strong analytic skills, data mining and database development to drive continuous improvement.
The Industrial Engineer will be concerned with the efficient process flow, process improvement and safe utilization of labor within the distribution center.
Will be involved with classical industrial activities such as: work measurement, facility layouts, data analysis, MHE, productivity improvements utilizing lean concepts and ergonomic workstation and work tool designs.
Work in conjunction with the distribution operations team to develop process improvement solutions, layout changes and engineered work standards for distribution processes.
Utilize the WM 2006 Warehouse management system, Kronos time and attendance system, Microsoft access database, Slotting and AutoCAD among other software tools.
Critical member of the company distribution team and an extension of the global Engineering network, which will provide continuous improvement within the organization.
Develop, update and maintain the engineered work standards within the distribution network. This can be accomplished by traditional stopwatch time studies or pre determined time standards.
Develop and analyze complex and detailed data and reporting to synthesize information leading to problem resolution and continuous improvement. Supply critical feedback to concerned parties, and formulate plans for operator/process improvement.
Develop and Maintain accurate plant layouts and equipment utilization in a dynamic environment.
Troubleshoot any issues related to the operational performance of the facility.
Work closely with the Director of Distribution and the operations leadership team on assigned projects. These projects will be process improvement based.
Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or similar related degree. Demonstrated work experience with data mining and data base development is required.
Proficient with Excel, Access, Word, Power Point and AutoCad.
Strong project management skills are required.
Familiar with Warehouse Management Systems. Experience with WM 2006 is preferred.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills are a must.
Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics and/or fulfillment/distribution centers is preferred
Ability to travel within the company distribution network.
