Our client, Draper, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a Process/Industrial Engineer.  The position will provide process engineering support across all assigned product lines and will be expected to become the process owner for all products assigned. The position will also require a significant amount of process capture and development as well as time studies and manufacturing routing development.
Responsibilities include: 
  • Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering team, Design Engineering, Shop Floor personnel and management to capture and document existing processes and turn this information into easily utilized shop floor instructions and process drawings
  • Support and run process time studies as needed during process documentation and implement these times into routing structures within the Draper ERP
  • Develop new processes or process improvements
  • Support the production floor as the process owner for all assigned products and continuously improve processes and documentation
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings for existing production and develop process drawings/models from them
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings for new product introduction and be able to determine best practice method of manufacture to improve cost and quality of products.
  • Develop new process documentation and provide training with the help of Design Engineering for the shop floor for new product introductions or changes to existing products
  • Ensure products meet product design drawings and documentation, take initiative to correct design/manufacturing disparities when found
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) improvement suggestions to Design/Product Engineering
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques
  • Understanding of intellectual property matters and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create a rapport with shop floor as well as office personnel is critical
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned 
Requirements include: 
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or similar
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering in a high-mix, low-volume environment
  • Experience with manufacturing routing techniques and work center distinction
  • Experience with quality systems and their implementation/execution (ISO9001, AS9100, etc) a plus
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies a plus, as is certification in these practices
  • Strong ERP experience a plus, including knowledge of inventory control, material planning, scheduling, etc
  • Demonstrated use of AutoDesk Inventor or other 3D CAD software for process drawings, shop aids, tooling/fixturing. Experience with AutoDesk Vault is a plus
  • This position requires considerable interaction and proactive involvement with all levels in other departments. Requires self-directedness, able and willing to prioritize and take initiative
  • Experience in electro-mechanical assemblies is a plus
