Plant Safety & EHS manager manufacturing PVC sheet products for construction.
Responsible for all regulatory state and federal compliance for safety of employees and location water, chemical and environmental compliance.
Will be resident company subject expert and person of influence with the managing team for best of class program and administration.
Emphasis on internal data, records compliance, process safety & EHS audits, Safety Loss Prevention, best practices, reduction of accident frequency and severity.
Work aggressively with employees, and management for increased topic awareness and training.
Represent the company and liaise to all local state and federal contacts on questions, visits, certifications for compliance.

Valued but somewhat "old school" manager is retiring.  Senior Manager looking for someone to take program ownership and kick it up a notch or two with best practices.

Requires 4 year degree with excellent writing skills, technical knowledge, interpersonal skills to lead others, and 5-10 years experience in safety / EHS or a related field such as managing, or engineering.
Certified Safety Professional preferred.

This key leadership role provides environmental safety and health (EHS) support to all employees, encompassing warehouse, production, maintenance and administrative facilities. It is a hands-on position with key responsibilities that include the development and maintenance of a company safety program, internal safety audits, organization and facilitation of safety training and committee meetings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
? Provide leadership and strategic direction for the company’s EHS program and act as the primary liaison for regulatory agency visits, inquiries and correspondence.
? Partner across all lines of business to provide expertise in the areas of health, safety and environmental compliance including troubleshooting and resolving potential problems with plant operations.
? Assess operation risk and implement programs to mitigate.
? Translate and communicate EHS objectives, goals, strategies and measures tied to leading metrics for Palram employees with the ability to effect short term and long term business goals.
? Drive improvements in Palram’s Safety First culture, including employee EHS awareness and accountability, developing and delivering training as needed.
? Develops and updates EHS policies and programs to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations. This includes the identification and practical remediation of all potential hazards within
    the work environment.
? Ensures that site safety program meets OSHA’s requirements for a safe work place for all employees. This includes but is not limited to activities regarding equipment operation, general              
    environmental conditions, ergonomics, and emergency actions.
? Organizes and oversees departmentalized safety committees and defines the scope of their activities with the purpose of maintaining a safe work environment as defined in the site safety program  
    documentation.
? Conduct regular walk-through of all work areas to identify hazards, evaluate controls, recommend improvements and communicate with team members. Promote safety visibility.
? Maintains records of site accidents and safety infringements. Employs corrective measures to the safety program based on such incidents as required.
? Lead formal incident investigations to identify root causes. Drive corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
? Coordinate and schedule safety training for company personnel including but not limited to forklift training, CPR/first aid training, emergency action training, and periodic reviews of general safety topics.
? Maintains and keeps accessible a current library of MSDS sheets for all potentially hazardous materials within the facility.
? Assigns and enforces the use of personal protection equipment as needed.

Workman’s Compensation/Injury Management
? Oversee the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier, administering the return to work program and being responsible for case management with an       emphasis on implementing cost control measures and proper case management
? Partner with Human Resources to manage injury claims and the Return to Work program.
? Lead formal incident investigations to identify root causes. Drive corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
? Develops, implements, and refines injury prevention processes for continuous improvement in injury frequency, compliance issues, and worker’s compensation
? Manage any alcohol/drug testing requirements and reporting.

Desired Skills/Characteristics:
? Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, in occupational safety, safety sciences, or related field.
? Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA required. Certification preferred.
? 5 years experience leading a Safety Department in a leadership role
? Strong familiarities with US EHS laws and regulations
? Workers’ compensation administration experience required
? Prior experience managing environmental permits and culture change
? Ability and willingness to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks and lead process implementation across a team environment
? Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
? Innovative problem solver and self-starter with the ability to advocate for a point of view and convince others to take action
? Strong oral and written communication abilities coupled with leadership skills
