The Project Manager will provide team leadership in delivering automation solutions for a wide variety of industries. This position requires demonstrated project management proficiency in delivering successful automation solutions involving PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms. The Project Manager will interact directly with the customer and lead a talented and diverse team of engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing/testing/commissioning/qualifying automation solutions.
As a leader within the business unit and requires strong problem-solving ability, well-balanced people skills, an aptitude for business efficiency, and an interest in creating partnerships to drive positive business outcomes. The Project Manager demonstrates success by securing repeat work with customers.
This position requires the ability to effectively manage scope, schedule, and budget of automation system projects of varying size and complexity. The candidate will lead by example and have a keen awareness for meeting customer expectations while achieving business and financial goals. The candidate must have the ability to conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery that meet our customer’s requirements.
Project Management Responsibilities: Develop project execution plans, work breakdown structures and associated budgets, task prioritization and scheduling, task ordering, time tracking and reporting, financial tracking and reporting, early problem identification, conflict management/resolution, lead and support a team, and attend project status meetings. The candidate will manage daily operations and activities of a project(s) ranging in size from up to $5M. This position is often responsible for ensuring overall profitability of the project.
Controls Engineering Skills and Responsibilities: Ability to provide technical leadership of automation solutions involving: defining requirements, estimates, proposal writing, system design, scheduling, allocating resources, customer negotiations, DCS/PLC programming, designing control panels, instrumentation, and installation/startup oversight.
The preferred candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset and work to achieve excellence in project execution methodology.
Education – A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Having PMP certification would be preferred.
Experience – Greater than 10 years with capabilities in below areas is preferred:
- Proven success in project management
- Experience in one or more of the following industries: Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas and Mining.
- Experience with Life Science Computerized System Validation and GMP compliance is also desired
- Experience is design of electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels and associated NEC references desired.
- Experience leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions
- Experience mentoring less experienced engineers
Professional references, preferably one from each of the following: a subordinate, a peer, and a manager.
Ability to travel up to 25%
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Current authorization to work for any company in the US without restrictions
Must have a stable work history (no contractors or engineers who frequently change jobs)
