A west side, Cleveland, Ohio based global manufacturer is looking to hire a senior level purchasing / supply chain leadership type that can be accountable for the management and development of a world-class supply base. Job would entail directly managing a staff of 12 (Buyers, PA's, SQE, Expediters) and ensure the uninterrupted supply of production materials and services as specified by engineering, scheduled by manufacturing and within the cost requirements of the business group.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction and supervision of the sourcing and buying function to accomplish the appropriate availability of purchased materials and services from the production supply base.
Identify and action cost reduction opportunities that drive sustainable results.
Identify capability levels and training needs of the purchasing personnel and subsequently, develop their capabilities through direction, coaching, delegation and appropriate training.
Track the supplier's performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base's ability to consistently meet or exceed company's defined expectations.
Manage the regular and daily activities to facilitate and develop the supplier's ability to support company's Lean manufacturing principles and problem avoidance processes through the use of best in class quality, delivery and lead-time performance processes.
Direct, coordinate and / or facilitate critical purchase part corrective actions with the responsible buyers, supplier personnel and other company management, as necessary. Report on the status of corrective actions, as required, to manufacturing, business group and executive management.
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's degree is required (technical degree is a plus); MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain.
Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role in supply chain management.
Demonstrated performance in cost reduction and value engineering.
Experience in Lean Industrial Manufacturing.
Experience in low cost country sourcing.
Demonstrated experience in creation, negotiation, and administration of contracts / agreements.
Experience in Lean Six Sigma manufacturing techniques and tools.
20% to 30% of travel to US (GA, CA, CO, RI), Europe (Germany), Asia (China, SE. Asia), Mexico
