We are seeking a QA leader to direct others in a fast paced manufacturing environment. This plant focuses on iron and steel pipe manufacturing. They will plans, coordinate, and direct quality program designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established standards and project requirements by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees (5 total).  They must write and maintain quality standards, procedures and processes that eliminate manufacture and shipment of nonconforming product.   

Key Responsibilities
  1. Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  2. Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  3. Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and reporting, and evaluation.
  4. Manages industry quality certification programs (SPFA/ISO/NSF).
  5. Reviews project specifications relative to standard manufacturing practices, processes, and necessary quality assurance testing.
  6. Provides technical training to department staff, as required for satisfactory job performance.
  7. Writes and/or approves procedures for Quality Assurance department.
  8. Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, testing and reporting, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned products or components, including products, components and services provided by outside vendors.
  9. Performs quality engineering reviews of documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  10. Audits manufacturing departments for conformance to company standards, procedures, processes, and industry quality certification (SPFA/ISO/NSF) requirements.
  11. Performs prospective new vendor audits.
  12. Coordinates review of documentation and physical items for incoming materials; verifies all aspects of material relative to purchase order requirements, including metallurgy, steel grade, and dimensions, etc.; decides whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on engineering and general product condition review.
  13. Reviews all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and project requirements.
  14. Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
  15. Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.  Educate various parties on standards, manufacturing and testing capabilities and to help solve technical problems and differences that arise during any stage of the process.
  16. Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
  17. Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.  Ensures that quality standards are being maintained and updated and that our products meet specification requirements.
  18. Investigates and addresses customer complaints regarding quality.
Education and/or Experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university –   Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 2+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • experience implementing API or ISO quality certification in a manufacturing environment desired.
