Job Description
The Concept Development Managers role is to fill the front end of innovation with business and product ideas to create long-term competitive advantage for the organization. Success is defined by the identification and development of disruptive business and product concepts. This position interacts with a wide variety of disciplines including research,
engineer
ing and marketing professionals and supports the R&D objectives of identifying and developing new product and business concepts, focusing on both short and long term projects that feed to traditional product development process. The end goal is to develop breakthrough, industry shaping products and solutions that customer and consumers cannot live without.
Duties include:
Identification of disruptive business and product concepts generated by deep understanding of industry, customer, and consumer needs by front-end ethnographic or discovery research.
- Front-end ethnographic or discovery research to identify unmet / unstated needs.
- Interacting with technology experts to identify disruptive, new technology.
- Interacting with industry experts to identify disruptive business models.
- Company and customer visits
Incubating and developing business and product concepts to the point of entry.
- Filtering / evaluating concepts to identify those concepts with the greatest value and impact.
- Managing research activities related to concept evaluation and filtering.
- Interacting with project teams to develop product requirements and industrial designs.
- Manage research activities related to the validation of product concepts.
Requirements:
Ten to fifteen years of experience plus 3+ years of experience working in the front end of innovation.
A background in consumer product development or related areas.
MBA is highly desired.
