I'm working an unique opportunity where an Electrical Facilities Engineer with experience working for chemical processing manufacturers could transition to Field Sales / Applications Engineering at essentially one of his employers' Power Management Systems suppliers. My client is a $110MM manufacturer of power management / electrical surge protection products, and they have created a new position for a West Coast Sales / Applications Engineer to penetrate industrial markets. Engineers with electrical facilities experience, particularly electric power systems, with an outgoing personality and strong communication skills can very easily fulfill the responsibilities of this opportunity. It is a great opportunity to be self-sufficient and work from your own home. Must be willing to travel up and down the West Coast, primarily in California.

The core responsibilities are: to facilitate and develop new and existing customer base in order to grow market share in the Industrial and Power Electronics market segments. This will be done by providing technical, applications and training support focused on technical and product topics to help with the specification and final sales of all related products into the industrial and power electronics markets.


Will work in a home office, ideally based in California near Los Angeles, but can be based anywhere in the state. My client may even be willing to consider individuals located in a near by state like Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, etc... Excellent opportunity to join a growing, yet stable company. DUTIES:


  1. Establish and maintain contact with key players in Industrial and Power Electronics markets.
  2. Create engineering and consultant network to specify products for Industrial Electric Safety.
  3. Present technical and product training for key buying influences in target market segments.
  4. Provide technical support and application engineering assistance in the field to end user customers
  5. Assist in development of marketing research efforts for the Industrial Sector as directed by the manager.
  6. OEM technical sales support for targeted markets.
  7. Generate communications tools such as white papers, training modules, tip sheets and presentations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A degree in an Engineering field is required, a BSEE is preferred.
  2. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in Electrical Facilities Engineering - Power Management strongly preferred. Experience in Sales Engineering, Applications Engineering or Product Management in Electric Power Field is a big plus.
  3. Strong Circuit Protection application knowledge and power system analysis skills
  4. Self-Starter with excellent communications and organizational skills.
  5. Understanding of electrical systems and their components such as motors, transformers, drives, and electrical gear is required to be successful in this position.
  6. Strong ability to create and conduct presentations for selling to technical buying influences.
  7. Willingness to travel up to 30%.
